Guidetti eyes first-team spot

Manchester City striker John Guidetti is targeting a spot in the first team after signing a new deal with the English Premier League champions.

Guidetti was brought to the club in 2009 by Sven-Goran Eriksson, and has since had spells away at Burnley and Feyenoord.

After an incredible season at Feyenoord last term that saw him score 20 goals in just 23 appearances, Guidetti made his senior international debut for Sweden in February.

I ve seen how much the club has turned into one of the biggest in the world, he told City s website after signing a three-year deal.

It s great to be a part of it and to have a management and a club that believes in you is very important. City have shown that and I m very happy.

Crouch doubt for Hawthorns trip

Stoke City striker Peter Crouch is in doubt for the trip to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, manager Tony Pulis has revealed.

Crouch was involved in a collision with Fabricio Coloccini when Stoke beat Newcastle on Wednesday, resulting in the 31-year-old losing two front teeth.

But Pulis insists the England international is eager to start at the Hawthorns and has every chance of featuring if he is cleared by a dental specialist.

Crouchy is seeing the specialist as we speak, so we ll have to wait and see if they are able to fit the brace, Pulis told reporters.

He will meet up with the rest of the squad at our hotel in the morning and I ll have a chat with him. I ll see how he is then and that will probably determine whether he features in the game, but …

Sunderland want Wesley Sneijder in exchange for Jeremain Lens

Somewhat surprising transfer rumours are coming from Istanbul with claiming that Sunderland have cast their eye on Galatasaray star Wesley Sneijder.

Black Cats have reportedly identified the former Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Ajax attacking midfielder as a potential exchange chip in a deal for the highly-rated winger Jeremain Lens.

The 29-year-old Dutch winger has been in impressive form for Fenerbahce this season and it is reported that Turkey’s big-three is interested in keeping Lens beyond this season once his loan deal with Fenerbahce expires.

Galatasaray and Besiktas have also made their intentions known and Premier League strugglers Sunderland appear to have a significant bargaining power over Turkish powerhouses in the forthcoming transfer window.

Will Milan Ever Be Sold?

Does Berlusconi have something up his sleeve? Image: Getty

And the saga continues. I ve written multiple articles, each contradicting my last, a testament to how crazy and disorganized the sale of the Rossoneri has been. When we last left off, everything seemed fine and dandy, the closing set for March 3rd, and for everything to finally be over. As I ve learned throughout these years, anything with Milan is not that simple. Now, the Chinese consortium has dwindled down to one person, who now seems unable to put up the funds to finance the acquisition. So the question is Will ever switch hands?

Maybe, Maybe Not.

There s no definitive answer as of yet, but Berlusconi seems to be content to let Sino-Europe acquire the funds. He is racking up the money, €100 million at …

Griezmann to Barcelona: Frenchman moves above Messi in football´s biggest release clauses

When Paris Saint-Germain made their world-record €222million move for Neymar in 2017, Barcelona were caught off-guard as the Ligue 1 giants paid the forward s release clause and left the Catalans powerless.

Barca could only sit and watch as the Brazilian made his exit, stepping from the shadow of Lionel Messi in the hope of usurping his former team-mate and Cristiano Ronaldo in the battle for the Ballon d Or.

While things haven t exactly gone to plan for Neymar in Paris, Barca certainly appear to have learned from their mistake with respect to release clauses and the opportunity they present clubs willing to spend big.

Friday s announcement of Antoine Griezmann s arrival also brought confirmation of the club inserting a whopping €800m release clause in the F…

Leicester City 1-0 Liverpool: Three talking points as Foxes earn unlikely victory over title-hunting Reds

Liverpool s hopes of winning the Premier League title this season took a hit on Tuesday evening, as Leicester City managed to grab all three points against them at the King Power Stadium, courtesy of a solitary strike by Ademola Lookman.

Deserved defeat for Liverpool

The result of this match will have come as great shock to many, though it s not too hard to explain what happened. The first thing to say is that most Liverpool players produced surprisingly poor individual performances. Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip in the heart of the defence, along with Kostas Tsimikas who took up the place of suspended Andy Robertson on their left, put in a decent effort. The rest of the team, to put it simply, looked like they hadn t had any breakfast that morning.

La Liga Preview: Malaga v Barcelona

Lionel Messi is an injury doubt for Barcelona s trip to Malaga, after being withdrawn at half-time in Wednesday s draw with Atletico Madrid.

The Argentina international could only manage 45 minutes as a Neymar header saw Barcelona come from behind to secure a 1-1 draw at the Vicente Calderon in the first leg of the Supercopa de Espana.

Messi has been plagued with muscular issues at the start of the campaign, and was a doubt for the club s opening fixture against Levante last Sunday.

But he recovered in time to score twice as Barcelona stormed to a 7-0 win at Camp Nou.

However, the club confirmed on their official website that he has bruised the femoral biceps tendon in his left thigh, and he now faces a race against time to feature at the Estadio La Rosaleda on S…
