Real to return for Van de Beek

Real Madrid have informed Donny van de Beek of Ajax that they will return for him in the summer of 2020, according to .

Along with Christian Eriksen of Tottenham Hotspur, the 22-year-old was considered by Real as an alternative to Paul Pogba as their negotiations with Manchester United started to go badly. However, Real head coach Zinedine Zidane stepped in at the last moment to emphasize that Pogba, and no other player, was the missing piece of the puzzle for the team he s trying to build. Signing an alternative was put on hold and the window slammed shut.

However, in Madrid they apparently believe that another season with Ajax would be an excellent way for the young midfielder to further his development before arriving to the Santiago Bernabeu. The Dutch champions wer…

Messi tells Dembele to step up and be more professional at Barcelona

Lionel Messi has told Ousmane Dembele he needs to step up for Barcelona and be more professional.

Stories about Dembele s discipline, including time-keeping issues, have been a constant thread through the France forward s career to date.

His lack of development since swapping Borussia Dortmund for Camp Nou led to Dembele reportedly being offered to Paris Saint-Germain as a makeweight in a proposed deal for Neymar.

No transfer went through before the deadline at the start of September, however, with former Rennes starlet Dembele said to be reluctant to make the return to Ligue 1.

Barca captain Messi has made it clear more is expected of Dembele this term, although the 22-year-old scored eight LaLiga goals in 2018-19 when only starting 20 games.

The Italy international has long been linked with a return to his homeland, with the Serie A side narrowly missing out on a deal in the summer.

Reports suggest the Partenopei have paid Liverpool around €five million for Dossena.

The 28-year old had joined Liverpool from Udinese for £7 million in the summer of 2008 but started only 13 Premier League games in 18 months at the club as Rafael Benitez showed a preference for young Argentinean Emiliano Insua.

The highlight of his Liverpool career was a four-day spell in March 2009 during which Dossena scored in a 4-0 win over Real Madrid in the Champions League and then lobbed Edwin van der Sar as the Reds…

Buffon: Juventus should have had it won after 25 minutes

Gianluigi Buffon feels Juventus should have had the Supercoppa Italiana won after 25 minutes of their match with AC Milan in Doha.

Juve missed out on the trophy, losing 4-3 on penalties after 120 minutes of action had produced a 1-1 draw.

The Italy goalkeeper saved a penalty from Gianluca Lapadula in the shoot-out, but saw his 600th Juve appearance end in disappointment after misses from Mario Mandzukic and Paulo Dybala.

Buffon felt Juve should have had the game won long before that drama, though, pointing to their dominance of the early stages, when Giorgio Chiellini put them ahead, with Gianluigi Donnarumma making a string of other key saves.

We should have realised that we could have killed off the game in those blistering opening 25 minutes, captain …
