Reus determined to end Dortmund career with European glory

Long considered one of the most talented players of his generation, Borussia Dortmund s Marco Reus has failed to taste major success throughout an injury-plagued career, but he is desperate to leave his boyhood club as a Champions League winner.

The 34-year-old is leaving Dortmund after 12 years at the club and hopes to do so on a high by beating Real Madrid in the Champions League final at Wembley stadium on Saturday.

Borussia Dortmund means everything for me, Reus said this week. When you are 12 years at a club then it just has to mean everything.

The former Germany international, who also spent a decade at the Ruhr Valley club as a youth player, has scored 170 goals in 428 matches for Dortmund.

Known for his sublime skills, goalscoring ability and cl…

Schalke announce David Wagner as new head coach from 2019-20

Schalke have confirmed David Wagner will take over as their new head coach from the 2019-20 season, with the former Huddersfield Town boss having signed a three-year contract.

Wagner s hugely successful tenure at Huddersfield which saw him gain promotion to the Premier League in 2017 and secure survival the following year  came to an end in January, the 47-year-old departing by mutual consent with the Terriers bottom of the table and doomed to relegation.

He will now return to management with Schalke, who sacked Domenico Tedesco as their head coach in March and are currently under the interim management of Huub Stevens.

The Gelsenkirchen club secured their Bundesliga status for another campaign last weekend, having endured a miserable season on the back of a s…

Buffon brimming with confidence ahead of Brazil 2014

Gianluigi Buffon feels Italy will have a competitive advantage at the FIFA 2014 World Cup after their Confederations Cup exploits in Brazil.

Cesare Prandelli’s side finished third at last month’s tournament, which is traditionally treated as a dry run 12 months prior to the main event in international football.

Italy, crowned world champions a total of four times, enjoy a four-point cushion at the top of Group B in qualifying and look likely to return to Brazil next year to compete in the World Cup.

Having spent the best part of a month in the South American country at the Confederations Cup, Buffon believes it was a good fact-finding mission for himself and his Italy team-mates.

We learnt so many little things that will help us prepare better for next year, …

France leaks forcing Deschamps to keep Euro 2024 plans hidden

France coach Didier Deschamps has been covering his tracks to prevent his tactical plans from leaking at Euro 2024, midfielder Adrien Rabiot revealed on Monday.

Les Bleus are preparing to face Spain in the last four on Tuesday, their fourth semi-final appearance in six major tournaments under Deschamps.

Reports in France suggested Deschamps only told his players the starting lineup for Friday s quarter-final against Portugal when they were en route to the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg.

It has since been claimed that team news and tactical details were leaked on several occasions throughout the tournament, leading Deschamps to keep his own players in the dark.

Rabiot confirmed that was the case, telling reporters at a pre-match press conference: It is more …

Roberto pleased with Barcelona´s 2015

Barcelona s Sergi Roberto hailed a remarkable year of personal and team growth after his team s last game of 2015.

Roberto has already made 21 first-team appearances this season, as coach Luis Enrique has found more and more use for the midfielder as a right-back, helping Barcelona to a La Liga, Champions League and Copa Del Rey treble, as well as a Club World Cup title.

Speaking after Barcelona s 4-0 win over Real Betis, confirming the Catalan giants position at the top of La Liga heading into next year, Roberto said he was looking forward to bigger and better things in 2016.

In sporting terms it has been a spectacular year with five titles won. It was also good for me personally because I got more minutes and gained confidence, Roberto said.

Maguire labels England criticism ´ridiculous´ following Euro 2024 display

Harry Maguire has defended his England team-mates after their performance at Euro 2024, labelling the criticism as a bit ridiculous .

England reached back-to-back European Championship finals but suffered the same outcome in Berlin as they did at Wembley three years ago.

The defeat against Spain saw Gareth Southgate become the first head coach in the history of the tournament to end up on the losing side in two finals.

Southgate called time on his eight-year tenure in charge of the Three Lions two days after the tournament ended, winning 59.8% of his 102 games in charge.

Despite this, underwhelming performances in Germany saw cups thrown towards the former England head coach as supporters jeered the players.

Southgate came under fire for his def…

Buccaneers vs Panthers Week 16 Picks and Predictions: Brady, Bucs Avenge Saints Shutout Loss

You don’t want to face an angry Tom Brady but the Carolina Panthers will have to face that when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers arrive in town on Sunday. Brady was shut out against the Saints and he won’t let that happen again. Meanwhile, the Panthers are a mess with head coach Matt Rhule angering the fanbase and seemingly sleepwalking towards losing his job.

Find out what happens by reading our NFL picks and predictions for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Carolina Panthers.

NFL Underdogs: NFL Picks, and Predictions Week 13

The schedule slides into December in Week 13, signaling winter for fans of betting NFL underdogs.

The first dozen weeks of NFL action have been pet friendly for the past 13 years, with underdogs covering at a 53.1% clip between Week 1 and Week 12. However, once we hit the final page of our calendar (are those still a thing?), those dogs dip to 49.4% winners for the rest of the regular season.

That swing in underdog success has been amplified in recent campaigns, with point spread pups covering at a 56.2% rate in the opening 12 weeks since 2019 but slumping to just 49.2% from Week 13 onward.

Last year saw underdogs go 100-76-1 ATS in the first three months of the season (56.8%) and wrap December (and a bit of January) at just 41-49-2 ATS (45.7%). A…

Best NFL Milestone Bets for Week 16: Slayton Shines Bright in Primetime

Milestone and Alt Overs are a great way to find big plus-money plays. bet365 has Milestone markets for basically every prop so bettors can look into different markets other than the standard yardage props.

On this Christmas edition of Milestones, my free NFL picks are looking at three separate pass-catchers and hitting a rainbow of yardage from 25 to 50 to 75 yards.

I’m looking for some garbage-time production in some but think all three players are being undervalued in their individual spots. Merry Christmas and here are my Week 16 best Milestone bets.

Jaguars vs Dolphins Picks & Predictions for Week 1: Engram Explodes Against Miami

The first week of the NFL season will feature a Sunshine State showdown when the Jaguars travel south to face the Dolphins.

There should be plenty of offense in this affair, and my Jaguars vs. Dolphins predictions for September 8 have keyed in on the receiving yards of Evan Engram. Read all about it in the NFL picks ahead.

Jaguars vs Dolphins prediction

My best betEvan Engram Over 45.5 receiving yards (-110 at BetMGM)

My analysisThey say diamonds are a girl’s best friend. The same could be said of a tight end’s relationship with a quarterback — especially when talking about the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Only four teams targeted their tight ends in the passing game more than the Jags in 2023. In fact, nea…
